We have two worm farms, one in an old caste iron bath tub, the other in a
purpose built worm bin, with a concrete liner to minimise tree root
invasion and collect worm juice.
Waste
(e.g. organic food scraps, paper and cardboard, horse manure) is added to
current worm farm in layers, well watered, covered with old carpet and
lids and rested to allow vermicaste to mature for about a year.
Vermicaste is used direct with garlic production and hot-house
production and worm juice is used as a regular liquid fertiliser in
spring and summer. |
